i'm still undecided as to whether i suffered child abuse from the age of 7, having to get up everyday at 6am to practice piano scales. though, it set a foundation of discipline, music and creativity.

early 20's i had an opportunity to cut my teeth mixing magazine format tv shows (mikey havoc & news boy - for those that remember), it opened my eyes (or perhaps i should say ears?) to using sound for comical effect.

took off to the uk for a few years to work for below minimum wage. by day i dubbed welsh tv dramas and kids animations in between running around, getting clients coffees and snacks. by night i pranced around as a foley artist. (who doesn't remember fireman sam?)

returned to nz to the world of advertising in auckland, sound designing tvc’s for all the big players in all their big boots. most of them won't remember me, but i was the geek in front of the computer and speakers making their ads sound bad-ass.

went back to the uk for a longer stint. worked on some big bbc dramas as well as contracted to players such as virgin media, mixing a stack load of advertising content for multiple channels.

honed my skills as a sound designer for commercial media. wrote production music and signed with 2 london based music publishers.

returned to nz - tauranga this time, now a father. that changes things.

continued to do audio post production, sound design and write music for clients nationally and internationally. using my humble kit, i can generally do what most of the big boys do. i know my ears and they know what sounds good.

i did a voice over one day, because the voice talent didn’t turn up. the rest is history. now another string in my bow.

i've done other things along the way. i like building bespoke furniture for fun. some of it commissioned, then sold. i also shout at my kids to stop fighting while still pretending to be a model parent. guess who were arguing while I was writing this? character building i tell myself.

i’m older now. been doing sound and music for media for over 24 years and i still love it. even if it's something small and inconsequential. i don’t always like polishing turds, (who does?) but sometimes it has to be done. and when my clients, client is ecstatic, then it makes it all worthwhile.

i’ll enhance your media with my audio expertise. in the process, i'll get my kicks out of manipulation the audio, creating crystal clear aural content and tailoring sound lovingly to your media masterpiece. true story.

as for the galloping horse? there's no particular reason. i saw it as an option when i was building this site and thought it was ridiculous enough to add to this page. honestly, who would actually add a galloping horse to their website?
